Fed: Gold Coast crash caused by air turbulence: ATSB

A plane crash that that left two people dead on Queensland's Gold Coast was probably
caused by air turbulence.

The Air Transport Safety Bureau, in an initial report on the crash at Coombabah, says
there appears to have been nothing mechanically wrong with the small aircraft.

Two men, 71-year-old pilot KEVIN STUART, and his 60-year-old passenger, PETER NOSKO,
were killed when their plane crashed in September.

They were simulating engine failure and a glide approach to the runway.

The bureau says at the time of the crash, the wind was gusting between 15 knots and 18 knots.
