Vic: Police miss Mokbel at Dubai races: report
Fugitive drug baron .. and accused gangland killer TONY MOKBEL may have escaped police
again .. this time in Dubai.
The Herald Sun reports scores of police mounted a 10-hour surveillance operation at
the Dubai World Cup thoroughbred racing event at the Nad Al Sheba racecourse on Saturday
.. the world's richest horse racing event.
The report says a Dubai-based Australian Federal Police agent briefed local police
on the operation .. issuing each officer with photos and descriptions of MOKBEL and his
girlfriend DANIELLE MCGUIRE.
The paper says an associate of MOKBEL recently told Victorian police the gangland kingpin
had fled to Dubai .. and was expected to attend the race meeting along with 50-thousand
other spectators.
But MOKBEL was not located.
He disappeared on March 19 last year near the end of his cocaine trafficking trial
.. and was sentenced in his absence to a nine-year minimum jail term.
Last month he was charged with the murder of gangland identity LEWIS MORAN and his
stepson MARK MORAN.
